SuperFruit Exfoliating Tonic

Yes! It’s a common misconception that you should avoid using AHA exfoliants in the morning. While glycolic acid and other exfoliants do make your skin sensitive to the sun, this is true whether you decide to use them during the day or in the evening. The important thing is to wear SPF during the day and to avoid excessive sun exposure.

We developed the SuperFruit Exfoliating Tonic to be both effective and gentle for all skin types. However, we realize that everyone’s skin is different, so if you have any specific sensitivities or allergies, we recommend conducting a patch test before using any new skincare product. If you have particularly sensitive skin, we suggest using it once or twice a week to start, letting your skin adjust before increasing the frequency.

We do not recommend layering the SuperFruit Exfoliating Tonic with retinoids like tretinoin in the same routine. Instead, we recommend using it in the mornings (always use SPF) or two to three times a week at night while skipping your retinoid, depending on your skin’s tolerance. Make sure your skin is adjusted to your retinoid product before you add in the SuperFruit Exfoliating Tonic, and take it slow!

All our products are considered safe to use during pregnancy. However, as with any product, we recommend consulting your obstetrician first. The SuperFruit Exfoliating Tonic does include licorice root extract, which can be an issue when ingested in large quantities. It is not considered unsafe in topical products due to the limited amount absorbed into your system, but we recommend asking your obstetrician prior to use.
